Wow. First time really listening to the lyrics. Amazing message. He has a debilitating stutter that prevented him from speaking and singing correctly so he gave everyone the middle finger and became the Scatman.

The bass has a electric bass like tone. Astonishing, perfect timbre, incredible sustain. Mildly mellowed. I love the staccatos.

I love just how personable Scatman John was in all his interviews and performances. The priceless moment in this video to me is when he doesn’t at first nail that introductory, “I’m the Scatman!” and immediately clasps his hands together into a fidget, then comes back like a cannon on the second go. That to me encapsulates why I like him as a person so much. “If the Scatman can do it, brother, so can you.”

What an inspiring man, for all. Everyone faces challenges and adversity; as the song says, they stutter one way or another. We all face personal weaknesses and difficulties and problems we can't seem to shake. Seeing him overcome stuttering, in the sense that he attained success despite stuttering, not only tells the rest of us that we can be successful, too, but reminds us that we aren't the only ones facing challenges. It's also interesting that stuttering, which was probably one of his biggest detriments in life, if not the biggest, seemed to be the very thing that helped him find a great place in the world as a singer and scat musician. Stuttering probably guided him to singing and scat.
